003 - I grew up in Connecticut, a child of the eighties.  My teams were the Bill Buckner Red Sox, the Tony Eason Patriots, and the Larry Bird Celtics.  Oh, and there were the Whalers, as well.

Given that list, one can imagine why my heart and attention were won by the National Basketball Association.  The Celtics were my team, though I admired the Lakers, and loved watching the Hawks.  The Pistons were living, breathing incarnations of Lucifer, Mammon, Leviathan, Beelzebub, and Satan.  The logo of the NBA was iconic and ever-present in my youth.  From the games I watched on TV, to the posters on my wall, to the T-shirts I wore, the silhouette of Jerry West was alway with me.

I mentioned in the first post I published on the blog that I am a fan of Randy and Jason Sklar and regularly listen to their podcast.  Their play on the NBA logo makes me giggle a little. The detail of Jason’s glasses drawn over the negative space of the silhouette gets me, for some reason.

As I began looking into fantasy curling, I was immediately struck by the logo of the World Curling Tour.  I can guess the inspiration, but there is one unanswered question that lingers.  Who is this left-handed curler?  Who is the Jerry West of curling?

Now before any baseball fans object and point out the original logo that started this whole trend.

Let me remind you why it took me a long time to truly embrace baseball and why I was not hanging any MLB posters on my wall.
