017 - Just when I did not think things could get worse for me on the fantasy curling page at CurlingZone, Week 8 happened. This past week saw thirteen events tracked by the site with a possibility of over 500 matches to be picked. With the help of my vigilant friend, Fantasy Curling Bot, I think I selected almost every one. As the week unfolded, I noticed an all-too-familiar pattern of matches I had picked not being counted. Unlike previous weeks, where certain events were excluded from my scores and others counted, not one of the matches I picked this week was credited to me, even though the site’s history clearly shows the picks I made.
So I went through each of the events, once again, and tabulated what I think my score for this week should have been.
I am growing tired of this, and despite my numerous efforts to contact Gerry, I have gotten no response. So I am falling back on a lesson learned from my mother. If you want somebody to do something nice for you, first do something nice for them.
I want to buy a gift for Gerry. He is apparently a gentleman who favors hats, hats of a particular style. So I researched one of the finest hat makers in the world, Lock & Co. of London, and found a hat that I would like them to make for Gerry. I then looked into the cost of such an endeavor, and almost choked on my tongue while gasping. So I am reaching out to you. Please help fund my efforts to buy Gerry a ludicrously nice hat. I have established a campaign on GoFundMe and would love any contribution you can muster. (I also hope to do more than simply buy a hat with this campaign, but really, it is about the hat first.)
If you can help me get this gift in Gerry’s hands and on his head, hopefully, he will be willing to look into the scoring discrepancies that I have reported to you.
If you think this is a ridiculous idea and question why I would ever conceive of such a thing, well you clearly have not read about all of the other ridiculous ideas that drive the content of this site.
If giving to this campaign seems like an utter waste of money and something you would never consider doing, perhaps you could at least help me spread the word a little. Some of your friends may be a little more flush and a little more loose with their change. I think this would be a lot of fun to pull off.
